‘5 Human Rights Activists, Arrested For Staging A protest, Against VP Mphoko’s Indefinite Rainbow Towers Hotel Residence’

The prolonged stay at  the luxurious Rainbow Towers Hotel  in Harare by Zimbabwe’s second vice president Phelekezela Mphoko, is an issue that does not board well with members of the public who are suffering, hungry, jobless, homeless and destitute.

Phelekezela Mphoko has turned down several properties offered to him by the government, based on the argument that they fell short of accomodation standards fit for a man of his stature, and has happily lived in the hotel since his appointment to the post of vice president, a year ago.

Human rights activists have continuously  protested again  this waste resources by a broke Mugabe and his Zanu PF regime. The  Zanu PF despot led regime yesterday flexed its muscle using the partisan, ruthless Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) againsts opponents of this waste of taxpayers money by the government.

Five human rights activists were yesterday  arrested and detained  after holding a  protest at Rainbow Towers in Harare against Vice President Phelekezela Mphokos indefinite stay at the Rainbow Towers hotel in Harare.

The Human Rights activists,Dirk Frey,  Tonderai Chigumbu , Irvin Takavada, Tendai Tendayi   and Lynnette Mudehwe  face a charge of the contravention of Section 46 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform). By Sibusiso Ngwenya
